Meet the Burkens!
Sean and Kim were married in Clinton, Iowa, in a beautiful Catholic Mass, surrounded by their closest family and friends.
Their church had a large room for Kim and her bridesmaids to get ready in. The tall ceilings and stained glass windows had all the makings of a traditional Catholic Church, with so much space for their friends and family to gather to celebrate with them.
Kim is a mechanic, and during the prayers of the faithful, the priest prayed that “Every man could be blessed with a woman who can change a carburetor.” It made me laugh out loud. She was so ready to take her veil and gown off the entire day, but she had promised her bridesmaids she would wear her dress through the entire reception. In all seriousness though, how lucky is Sean to have a strong, smart, and beautiful wife like Kim. These two are just the perfect match. They are both a bit quiet at first, but once you get them laughing and joking, they are hilarious and I have been so blessed to get to know them over the course of their engagement.
We made a pit stop at Eagle Point Park before the reception to get some photos of their bridal party, at one of the most popular areas in the park. How do you forget a castle like this?! You just don’t. This castle was built during the Great Depression with a grant from the government to beautify the park. When you go to the top, you have a panoramic view of the beautiful Mississippi.
As a plus, I also got to see their sweet furbaby, Kinnick, again during pictures! He didn’t quite remember me from engagement photos, but I have a feeling if I see him again, we’ll be old friends!
The couple ended the night at their reception at Vista Grande, and danced the night away with glowsticks and leis. It was a wonderful, and laid back way to celebrate their union.
Sean and Kim, I wish you both a blessed and beautiful life together! I am so honored to have been a part of your special day.
