Generally when one thinks of Iowa, they think of fields of corn and flat land. In the rolling hills of Eastern Iowa, sometimes that’s just not the case. This beautiful wedding took place in the towering bluffs of Bellevue, Iowa, overlooking a tree-lined view of the Mississippi River. The Off Shore Hotel and Resort did a beautiful job hosting this wedding, and the accommodations at the hotel weren’t just convenient, they were so, so beautiful!
Amelia and Kyle had originally planned to elope to Florida, but decided to change their date and get married closer to home surrounded by their family and friends. This venue in the little town of Bellevue provided them the idyllic views that they envisioned, but close enough to home to be able to celebrate with their loved ones.
The day started at the Off Shore Hotel and I could tell as soon as I arrived that Amelia had the best hype squad ever. The girls were lifting hand weights (yep you read that right!), dancing and drinking mimosas while they got ready for the wedding.
In the sweetest first look, Kyle turned around in awe of his beautiful bride and said “You’re HOT!” It was the absolute cutest moment. The couple then exchanged vows privately before the ceremony.
The ceremony took place on the back patio, overlooking the river. As birds flew overhead, and clouds rolled in, this couple were married in front of their closest friends and family, with Kyle’s boys right by his side as two of his groomsmen.
The night continued with a stop at the on-site bar and grill right before they partied the night away at the reception with Twisted Mics.
During her welcome speech at the reception, I found out that after losing her grandmother, Amelia wanted to change the date of their wedding to her grandparent’s anniversary as a way to honor them and include them in her special day. Sharing an anniversary with them means that Kyle and Amelia will be able to celebrate their love, as well as her grandparents’ love year after year. What an honor.
We were able to sneak outside for some golden hour photos just as it was cooling off, and right before the rain rolled in. We have been in desperate need of rain, and it was a beautiful way to end the warm, Summer day. We even caught a hot air balloon floating over the river right before wrapping it up for the evening.
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Miller! What a joy it was to celebrate your love.
