I remember talking with Haley during her engagement about the vision she had for her wedding day. I remember her saying how much she loved the exposed brick at the University Club and how she wanted to play off of that to create a cozy vibe for her and Nicholas’ day. Without a doubt, that is exactly the feeling that I got walking into their beautiful reception.
The day began at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline. Haley’s favorite girls helped her get ready to walk down the aisle to marry her forever love. The space at the church was so spacious with giant windows, which allowed the bright June light to pour in.
Nicholas and Haley were married in a traditional Catholic mass, under soaring cathedral ceilings, in the presence of God and their loved ones. Haley is an only child, marrying into a somewhat large family. And as an only child myself, one of my favorite moments of the days was watching Nicholas’ sisters right behind them as they exited the ceremony, excitedly yelling “SISTER!” before embracing their newest family member. What a dream come true in so many ways for Haley.
It was exceptionally hot and humid for early June, but we visited a park before heading to the reception where we were able to get some beautiful shots of the wedding party while they enjoyed their ice cold beverages. Haley is a teacher, so I thought it was super fun and personal that they used a yellow school bus as their method of transportation between venues. These personal touches are always so fun and memorable, and it was a great tip of the hat to the amazing profession that Haley has devoted her life to.
After portraits, we headed over to the University Club to celebrate at their reception. The University Club is unique in that it offers so many in house services, as well as multiple different wedding spaces. Couples have the option to use their amazing in house DJ’s and they also offer in house catering which is absolutely delicious! It really does make the planning process so much easier, and I have heard so many great things from my couples who book here.
Their space gives off such cozy and warm vibes with all of it’s exposed brick, that played so well off of the sage and greenery that the couple chose for their day. Everything was so charming, and intimate, yet when the dance floor opened up, the party started! I mean glowsticks, disposable cameras, beer and spirits all around. Everyone was having such a great time celebrating the new couple.
And then there’s the awesome location of the venue, that gives off some quaint, yet urban vibes. In normal Courtney fashion, I snuck the couple outside during the reception for 5-10 minutes to get some photos in softer light. These are usually some of my favorite photos of the whole day, and they only take a few minutes to get such a variety of shots. Well worth it in my humble opinion!
I am so thankful that I was able to celebrate this sweet couple’s love, and wish them many more years of a beautiful Happily Ever After! May God’s blessings multiply in your lives, Nicholas and Haley! I wish you all the best!
