Kadin and Claire’s wedding day at The Barn at Brophy Creek Farm was filled with meaningful traditions, vibrant summer colors, and reminders of God’s faithfulness woven into every moment. These two were absolutely made for each other, and it brought me so much joy watching them tie the knot in front of all of the people they loved most.

The day began in the venue’s beautiful bridal and groom suites, where anticipation and excitement filled the air as family and friends gathered around the couple. Thoughtful heirlooms connected generations throughout the day. Tied delicately to Claire’s bouquet of pastel blooms was her grandfather’s handkerchief and ring, while Kadin carried his grandfather’s dog tags close by—a touching reminder of the loved ones who helped shape them into the people they are today.

From the very beginning, this wedding was centered on Christ. Their ceremony wasn’t simply the start of a marriage; it was a declaration that their relationship would be built upon a foundation of faith. One of the most moving moments came before the ceremony even began. As guests looked on, each of the grandmothers was escorted down the aisle and gathered at the front to pray over Kadin and Claire’s wedding rings. It was a beautiful picture of generations faithfully covering this new marriage in prayer and blessing before the couple exchanged their vows.

Their love story is one that speaks of patience, persistence, and God’s perfect timing. For years, Kadin pursued Claire’s heart, steadfastly believing in what could be. In time, Claire came to recognize the depth of her love for him, and their story unfolded exactly as it was meant to.
That theme of enduring love appeared again in one of the sweetest surprises of the day. As a little girl, Claire carried a beloved pillowcase blankie everywhere she went. Unknown to her, her mother had carefully saved it and secretly sewn a piece of it into the inside of Claire’s wedding dress. Claire had tried on her gown multiple times before the wedding day and never noticed. Discovering the hidden keepsake was an emotional reminder that she carried a piece of home, childhood, and her family’s love with her as she walked toward her future.

The ceremony took place overlooking the pond with rolling Iowa cornfields in the distance. The couple stood under an arch topped with a cross, signifying the foundation of Christ on which their marriage is built. Family and friends stood with them, laid hands on them and prayed over them, their marriage, and their future.

Following their ceremony, guests made their way to the barn for a relaxed and joyful cocktail hour featuring a nacho bar, drinks, and plenty of conversation. The reception was filled with laughter, heartfelt congratulations, and cherished moments as loved ones gathered to celebrate the newlyweds and offer their blessings for the journey ahead.

And of course, while the guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the barn, we had to take the opportunity to use the beautiful scenery at Brophy Creek Farm for some portraits. With a background in landscape design, the owners take meticulous care of the farm and it truly is one of my favorite spots for wedding portraits. Everything all in one spot, and every corner you turn there’s another great photo location just calling your name.

As the evening drew to a close, we stepped outside for sunset portraits bathed in the most beautiful golden light. The warm glow stretched across the countryside, creating the perfect ending to a day that was equal parts joyful, meaningful, and unforgettable.

Kadin and Claire, thank you for allowing me to be part of such a special day. Your wedding was a beautiful reflection of faith, family, and enduring love. May the Lord richly bless your marriage, strengthen your friendship, and guide your steps together for many years to come. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Graves — your greatest adventure is just beginning.
